Thank you for your interest in joining us. Camp Shane has great jobs and is hiring summer staff to work at our traditionally run coed weight-loss camps, located in the Catskill Mountains of New York State and in Mayer, Arizona. We are a specialized camp with the objective that the campers lose weight, learn new skills, gain self-esteem and have fun. We work six days a week, with fairly regular office hours, except during a few particular days when things are very busy and we all work late together. Unlike being part of the Counselor staff, who work until 9:30 every night, you are free after office hours, but still have the same curfews as Counselors.
Qualifications: Ability to develop and manage MS Access database independently. Additional experience with MS SBS and Exchange preferred, but not essential.
Duties & Responsibilities: We are seeking a motivated, talented and reliable student to be the primary operator of our database and respond to requests to retrieve data, print out various lists, create mailing labels, database searches, develop new segments and numerous other tasks.
We are running a network using Microsoft Small Business Server. We run many menu driven programs written on Microsoft Access. This position requires knowledge of Access and programming skills to trouble shoot programming problems as well as creating new programs. Successful candidates should be able to function independently and have a broad range of technical and communication skills.
The camp has developed a comprehensive set of programs designed to automate many of the tasks we do. This is an ongoing process and we need someone who will be able to do programming to add new features as we identify needs. Additionally, we always seem to develop problems with existing programs and would need your skill to correct problems. We also will be creating numerous reports to generate data to help us run our business.
You would be part of our office staff and a very important person in the operation of the camp. If the office gets extremely busy at times, we would ask you to help us enroll campers, produce reports, lists and analysis of data. We enter data for people making inquiries for information and then send brochures; enter data when a person enrolls to become a camper and then print out certain forms. Possibly on a limited basis, operate accounting software (we would teach you) to enter information and print checks for bill paying and payroll. To do word-processing work when and if needed.
