Camp Shane is a specialized camp that deals with overweight children. The objectives of the camp are for the campers to lose weight, learn new skills, gain self-esteem and have fun.

The Camp Shane water ski program runs three sessions a day, Monday to Friday, with a single group going out on the Saturday morning. It is the combined responsibility of the Ski team and the Camps driver to ferry the various groups, to and from camp. All groups depart from outside the camps main office.

The first group (#1) leaves camp in the morning at 9.00am, this group is driven out by a member of the ski team. Upon arrival at the lake, the children unload and begin the session.

The camp driver should arrive at the lakefront (in his personal vehicle) around 10:15am to pick up the camp van (that the staff drove out in that morning) and drive it back to camp. The driver then picks up mid-day group (#2) of children, departing camp at 11.30am (with the lunch for the kids and the lakefront staff, on board.

Once the middle group arrives at the lake, the #1 group will be ready to return to camp. The #1 group gets into the van and are driven back to camp. The van driver will wait at camp (12.30pm - 2.000pm approx) and take the final group (#3) to the lake at 2:00pm.

Group #3 departs camp at 2.00pm. Once they arrive at the lake, at 2:30pm the driver will load the van with group #2 who will be waiting to return to camp. The driver then returns to camp, delivers them and immediately returns to the lake, arriving back at approx 3.30pm. He is now finished for the day and may return home. A member of the waterski staff will drive the final group back to camp.

The camp driver will be expected at the lake each morning by 10:45am and will be done for the day at 3.30pm approx.

The van holds thirteen children and one staff member at any one time and will be fully loaded on each trip.
