Camp Shane runs two specialized camps for overweight children in the Catskill Mountains of New York and in Mayer, Arizona. The objectives of the camp are for the campers to lose weight, learn new skills, gain self-esteem and have fun. The day consists of six 45-minute periods a day. You will be in the gym 3-4 periods, six days a week. When teaching, you remain in the gym and each period a different age group of campers, accompanied by their counselor, will arrive at the gym. We have many individual stations using mostly Cybex and Universal equipment. We have some free weights as well as exercise bikes, step machines and ellipticals. You'll be in charge of instructing how to use the machines and most importantly, setting up and enforcing safety rules. We give you the opportunity to organize the program, as you would like. When not in the gym you will be traveling to other activities with the group you live with.
