Camp Shane runs two specialized camps for overweight children i the Catskill Mountains of New York and in Mayer, Arizona. The objectives of the camp are for the campers to lose weight, learn new skills, gain self-esteem and have fun. Head Craft Instructor supervises all shops; evaluates projects; orders supplies; liaison with camp director. Minimum Qualifications: Be at least 25 + years of age. Must have strong experience and skills in arts & crafts. Have emotional maturity, good moral character and integrity. Must possess strong leadership, organizational and supervisory skills. Must have ability to relate well and enjoy working with kids. Be responsible for maintaining a safe environment. General Responsibilities: The program consists of eight different shops, each run by a “Craft Specialist.” The Crafts Director works in one shop, but has total supervision of the all craft areas. Each shop must have weekly projects ready for each age group that the Crafts Director reviews. You make sure that each instructor is prepared and help where needed. You would work with the specialist to order needed supplies and presents them to the Camp Director or approval and places and supervises checking in orders. You act as a spokesperson for all the craft specialists. You are part of the Head Staff team and help in other areas when the craft shops are not in operation. We have three modern Art/Craft buildings, each housing several studios. We hire individuals to be in charge of each of the following shops: Silkscreen, Tie Dye/Candles, Arts & Crafts, Jewelry Making, Ceramics, Needlecraft, Leather Crafts, Woodworking The day consists of six activity periods. Each period a different group of kids come to the studio. Abilities range considerably and ages are from 8-17, although within each scheduled period the kids are about the same age.
Must be a college graduate and 25+ years old.You must have emotional maturity, good moral character and integrity, be flexible and cooperative. Requires strong leadership and organizational skills. You should enjoy a camp environment, be friendly, caring, kind, outgoing, like children, and be lots of fun!
