Health Assistant

Job Location: sites across USA - many, MD, United States

Job Description:

Working closely with the site nurse and/or site directors, health assistants (HAs) participate in the day-to-day operation of the site infirmary, keep track of students' medications and medical appointments, and accompany students on emergency room or physician visits. HAs may also be asked to provide support to administrative and residential staff. HAs are not responsible for providing medical care to students other than basic first aid and TLC. The HA position requires a great deal of flexibility since demands on time can vary from day to day. HAs must be at least 21, have good driving records, and be able to drive site vehicles. Duties and schedules vary from site to site.


Terms of Employment:


Positions are available for all residential sites and some day sites; Starting salary is $1300 per session; Employees pay their travel to and from program locations; For residential program employees, room and board are provided.


Dates of Employment:


Session 1 is from June 23 to July 19, 2006 and session 2 is from July 19 - August 11, 2006.

Job Requirements:

Experience working with children or adolescents; Strong organizational, clerical, and computer skills; Demonstrated flexibility; Strong academic background (cumulative GPA of at least 3.2); First-aid, CPR training; For insurance purposes, must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and good driving record.
