Working as a General Counselor in our overnight (sleepover/residential) summer Camp in New Hampshire, you will live in a bunk with children, aged from 7 to 15. Just two hours from Boston, the Camp is a summer home to a vibrant and welcoming community of over 300 children and 180 staff from all over the world. Here you will act as the following for 7 weeks: parent, coach, mentor, role model, and friend. You will take your group of children from activity to activity, performing the role of coach or assistant coach in a wide variety of sports and arts. Two overnight trips (a mountain hike and a canoe trip) and day trips (to beaches and caves) further add to the variety of this wonderful and diverse job.
We can provide an AMAZING Camp experience for dynamic individuals who love a challenge. This position also provides the perfect experience and resume builder for anyone who wants to pursue a career working with children. The experience can also be used as an internship or for college credits where applicable.
- On evenings and weekends you will assist with Camp's evening activities and special events.
- Accommodations will be in cabins.
- 5 days off and most of your nights will be free (3 hours approx).
- Dates of employment are June 21st to August 18th (8 weeks).
- 1 week of staff training and 7 weeks working with children.
- Room, board, laundry and internet access is included.
- Staff sports, trips, games and movie nights are all available in your free evenings.
- Salary is $1600-$2400 based on age and experience.
Essential:
An enthusiastic, motivated, warm, friendly, caring individual.
The ability to communicate, with patience and clarity, with children and co-workers.
19+ years of age.
Male (all equivalent female positions have been filled)
A legal U.S. resident (we have filled our international quota for this particular position)
Preferred:
1.) Experience of working with children.
2.) Experience of coaching sports (baseball, basketball, softball, soccer and volleyball).
3.) Studying for a degree in education.
4.) Finished at least one year of college by June 2012
