Group Leader:
You will be a role model, mentor and friend to a group of 12 to 15 children. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the children's safety, managing their behavior, building relationships with them and making sure that each child is happy and feeling part of the group. The activities in which you and your group will participate include sports and recreation, visual and performing arts and swim. Group Leaders must be 17 years of age and older. All Group Leaders MUST attend four days of training before camp begins.Administrative Staff:
Your responsibilities will include communicating with parents, campers and staff regarding a range of organizational issues. You will assist with data entry, ordering supplies, organizing and maintaining information that helps the site operate such as attendance, bus routes and other information that staff members will need on a daily basis. All administrative staff MUST participate in four days of training before camp begins.Maintenance/ Support Staff:
You will be part of a team that helps keep your site safe, clean and functioning. You will be outside most of the day and much of the work will be physical including equipment set-up and providing easy access to fresh water for children and staff. Program instructors plan and organize educational and fun activities that enable childen to discover new areas of interest, learn new skills and build new friendships. You can explore new ways of instructing and try out creative ideas for engaging children. Specific activity areas include: -Sports, Recreation and Outdoor Education; -Visual and Performing Arts; -Swim.Division Leader:
As part of the Oasis Leadership Team, you will oversee three to five groups (approximately 45-75 children) and manage a staff of 6-12. You will be responsible for all aspects of the children's participation including ensuring safety, communicating with families, handling disciplinary problems and leading day trips.Operations Director:
You will take care of all of the program's logistics. Responsibilities include supervising the office staff and the maintenance/support team, tracking and reporting camper and staff attendance, managing the database of camper and staff information, coordinating buses and transportation, managing enrollment, ordering supplies and working closely with Oasis Headquarters to collect and report all information.Health Director:
The Health Director is responsible health issues ranging from cuts, bruises and stomach aches to any serious injuires that may occur to campers or staff. In addition to handling medical issues that arise, the Health Director is responsible for preparing all paperwork required by the Health Department and carefully documenting all incidents that occur. Health Directors must be a NYS licensed Emergency Medical Technician, RN or LPN. You should have a current certificate in Responding to Emergency first aid issued by the American Ref Cross and you must have successfully completed a CPR course within the past year.Swim Director:
The Swim Director oversees all aquatics activities at camp and supervises the instructional swim program. Safety is the highest priority and Oasis adheres to the requirements of the American Camp Association and the American Red Cross, as well as the regulations of the Board of Health. The Swim Director is responsible for assessing the skill levels of all campers and staff, executing a regular system of buddy checks and coordinating the implementation of the Red Cross Swim Program. On rainy days, the Swim Director and his or her staff are responsible for implementing indoor activities as determined by the Site Director. Swim Directors must be at least 21 years of age, have 3 seasons of previous waterfront experience as a lifeguard and/or camp pool director and possess a current Water Safety Instructors Certificate from the American Red Cross, YMCA or other recognized training programs, and should also have current Lifeguard and CPR certifications.All Leadership Staff must participate in four days of training before camp begins as well as pre-camp trainings in their concentrated areas.
Experience working with children is encouraged but not required. In order to work in a leadership role, you must have experience in a managerial position working with staff, children and parents. You also must have your bachelors degree in a child related field, or equivalent experience. In order to work as a Program Instructor you must have experience teaching in your area of expertise.
