Camp is a great place to work with other people who share your passion for creativity, arts, and teaching. It is also a great place to practice your crafts, gain valuable resume experience, and the classroom experience all school systems are looking for. We have a lot of teachers, school administrators (principals, vice principals, directors of curriculum, etc) on staff. You never know where a connection or conversation will lead you and what doors get opened.
About our art programs:
We offer a wide variety of Art programs:
4 Arts & Crafts areas
3 Cooking areas
2 Jewelry areas
2 Ceramic areas
2 Lanyard areas
1 Woodworking area
1 Jr Drama area (Nur-2nd)
1 Sr Theater area -Musical Accompanist position avail. (3rd and up)
We have completed in the last year 4 new state-of-the art buildings. Our goal was to construct buildings that would allow us to offer our campers the most creative projects the art world has to offer and a facility that would provide our teachers with all the tools they need to put no limits on what they can teach. Each building has been equipped with the latest art equipment, has plenty of supply and project storage space, a teacher workspace inside and within the covered deck area, and covered porches that allows an outdoor feel with plenty of shade and rain protection. Each building has 4 covered decks. Each age group has their own art areas that are designed to grow, challenge, and change with them, as they get older. Campers have art 2-3 times a week from thirty to sixty minutes each visit. Campers in third grade and above have choice times called a focus or elective where they can spend an hour everyday for one week or two weeks at the art area of their choice. They will also be with other campers who have also chosen to be at art for the week.
We are not a "glue the macroni to the plate kind of camp". We want impressive art projects going home. We offer our teachers a lot of creative freedom, but with plenty of support to help plan, prepare, and gather everything needed to run a great program. We have a large art budget so you can make the projects you would like. The project ideas are endless. We have a full time project coordiantor who is out researching, making, and putting together sample projects for each age group and art area. The art coordinator is a teacher who has worked here at camp so she knows how to make the projects fit into the time frame of camp. We do want you to put your creative stamp on all the projects as you will have plenty of time to try each project and plan out how you will teach the campers. This way the pressure is not on you to come up with all project ideas, order amounts, etc for the summer, but you can still do what you do best --teach campers art.
We have worked hard to create a facility and staff-working environment that is enjoyable, creative, positive, and perfect for the summer. You will enjoy coming to work each day. Many of our teachers return each year, but we are always welcome new energetic people. We are looking for people who see working at camp as something they "get to do" not "have to do".
We welcome any questions you may have, and we invite you to come out meet us and see our facility. Call or e-mail Brian, Aussie Paul, or Jenn for more information and a staff brochure at (201) 444-7144 or Brian@ramapocamp.com, AussiePaul@ramapocamp.com, or Jenn@Ramapocamp.com
