BUNKHOUSE STAFF

Texas Lions Camp provides a positive environment to discover who you are and what you want to do with the rest of your life. Where are we?

Camp is located in Kerrville, on 504 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, only about an hour northwest of San Antonio. We're close enough to Kerrville to enjoy the restaurants and entertainment, and far enough away to enjoy the night sky. The Hill Country has great places for camping, climbing, kayaking, biking, tubing, and San Antonio is perfect for taking in all the historic sites and shopping!

What do we do?

Texas Lions Camp is a camp for children with physical disabilities, children with cancer, and children with type 1 diabetes. We provide similar activities to mainstream camps, but we adapt everything so that all of our campers can participate. Activities include waterfront (pool and sports lake), music therapy, recreation and athletics, nature studies, barnyard and greenthumb, arts and crafts, ceramics, photography, radio station, horsemanship, archery, and center stage. As a bunkhouse staff, your role consists of making sure each camper is embracing the Texas Lions Camp experience and having a great time. You'd live in the bunkhouse with your group of campers and serve as their leader and big brother/sister.

Does it pay?

YES, in so many ways! You'll get a weekly salary, we'll do your laundry, and DID I MENTION $50,000 in scholarships??? No special needs experience is necessary and extensive paid training is provided. Salary starts at $1500/summer (depending on experience/position) and includes room/board and laundry services. Back to that scholarship thing...not only can you get experience for college, we might even help you pay for it. TLC offers a scholarship program that our staff can apply for. Scholarships in 2007 totaled over $50,000. Internships are also available. Call for more information on those.

Job Requirements:

Texas Lions Camp is looking for men and women who are passionate about working with kids, ready for challenging new experiences, and will share their enthusiasm for adventure with boys and girls ages 7 to 16. As a camp counselor, your days are filled with endless rewarding moments. There is nothing that compares to seeing a child smile because they've learned a new skill or achieved their goal in a new activity. We need motivators, leaders, creators, and most of all people who want to spend their summer helping awesome kids find their superpowers.

The fine print: applicants must be at least 18 years old and have graduated from high school by the beginning of their employment with Camp.
