Resident Assistant - Los Angeles

Job Description:

Resident assistants (RAs) help create a community that encourages and supports intellectual curiosity, rigorous thinking, and a joy for learning. RAs ensure the physical and emotional safety of students, and develop a fun, dynamic, and engaging activities program. The RA supervises students to ensure that CTY rules and expectations are followed. RA commitments also include attendance at daily meetings and work on committees to plan all-site weekend events. RAs’ working hours are primarily the hours students are not in class, including weekends.

Terms of Employment:

  • Starting salary is $2,600 for two sessions
  • Employees pay their travel to and from domestic program locations
  • Travel assistance is provided for international travel to sites outside of North America
  • Room and board are provided


Employment Dates:

Session 1: June 25 - July 18, 2009
Session 2: July 18 - August 8, 2009

Job Requirements:

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience as a camp counselor or college RA
  • Experience supervising young students
  • Ability to create and organize group events and daily recreational activities
  • Ability to enforce rules
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively in committees
  • High level of responsibility and energy
  • College GPA of 3.2 or better
