Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth company profile
General Assistant - Los Angeles

Job Location:

Los Angeles, CA, United States

Job Description:

General assistants (GAs) are responsible for providing general support to the program at their sites. At all sites, the GA's daily schedule is full but unpredictable. Although certain activities are typical (supply runs and office coverage), specific tasks and responsibilities can and do change according to each day's needs. GAs are often called on to assist in unexpected or emergency situations, such as substituting for an absent program assistant. Very hectic periods may be followed by slow ones which require the GA to take initiative in identifying tasks to perform. In addition, the role of the GA varies somewhat from site to site depending upon the needs of the specific program.

Terms of Employment:

  • First-year salary is $2,400 per seven-week period
  • Employees pay their travel to and from program locations
  • Must be willing and able to use own vehicle for supply runs (CTY reimburses mileage at the current Johns Hopkins University rate.)

The position is only available at day sites. The position starts on June 22, with the exceptions of the Alexandria, VA site, which starts on July 13, and the Pasadena, CA site, which starts on June 15.

Job Requirements:

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an office environment
  • Demonstrated flexibility
  • Computer proficiency
