Thank you for your interest in joining our staff. Camp Shane has great summer jobs and is hiring camp counselors and other summer camp staff to work at our traditionally run coed weight-loss camp, located in the Catskill Mountains of New York State.

We are run like any fine traditional camp - only healthier. We have extensive and beautiful facilities. We’re upbeat, happy We offer all sports activities, emphasizing participation, instruction and having fun, not being competitive. Located in the heart of the Catskills with a beautiful view and clean air, we offer traditional and special events such as campfires, singing, drama, arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, dances, group games, carnival, etc. We have optional out-of-camp sightseeing trips and intercamp games.

Our staff is critical for a successful summer. We develop close working and personal relationships and hold regular staff meetings. The owners and head staff are always available. We thrive on feedback, suggestions and involvement to improve camp and create a great summer for campers and staff.

LOCATION:
The Catskill Mountains of New York. Although located in a rural area we are about 2 hours from New York City.

STAFF:
Counselor Staff consists of about 150 men and women from across the States, Canada and the UK. We employ an additional 50 people in non-counselor positions. Our season is about 9 weeks which includes a non-paying staff training orientation. Salaries depend on age, experience and skill level. All positions provide free room, board, laundry and on-camp medical service.

CAMPERS:
We have over 400 boys and girls. About 60% are from the Northeastern United States. The balance are from across the States, Canada and abroad. Approximately 2/3 of the campers attend for the first time each summer. Most are upper middle class and about half the campers are Jewish.

SALARIES:
Please remember that the camp provides free room and board and laundry. Salaries are total compensation for the summer.

Cabin Specialist salaries range from $900 to $1200.
Activity Specialist with experience, salaries range from $1200 to $1400.
Activity Specialist with certifications, salaries range from $1200 to $1800.
Group Leaders salaries range from $1600 to $1800.
Head Staff salaries are negotiable.
