Naples is thirty miles west of Portland and the Maine coastline with its many fine towns and beaches. It is the same distance east of North Conway, New Hampshire, and the Presidential Range of the White Mountains. The camp grounds are dominated by towering pines. The waterfront extends a mile down pristine Long Lake which is 11.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. The surrounding countryside is characterized by beautiful lakes and evergreen forests. Camp Takajo is an eight-week, boys', sleep-away, summer camp.

Camp Takajo was founded in 1947 by Morton J. Goldman. Throughout its history, Takajo as been known for diversity, carefully designed programs, and exceptional facilities which combine to offer youngsters a breadth of experience which is unique in camping. Exposure to a wide range of activities enables each boy to find his niche in the camp setting. An underlying philosophy which emphasizes individual growth helps every child thrive in Takajo's family oriented environment.
