Job Description Job Description Plans and instructs the national YMCA swim program. Instructors provide an atmosphere of safety, discipline, and high-quality instruction. Demonstrates the YMCA core values and incorporates them and the developmental assets into the swim program. This position requires knowledge and familiarity with water safety regulations and certifications in each of the following areas: Must be a minimum of 16 years of age Current YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross Lifeguard Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer Current First Aid The employee is responsible for keeping certifications current and to notify the Aquatics Director of any changes. 1. You are responsible for working the hours assigned. Failure to show up for a shift or not on time will either result in immediate termination or a progressive discipline procedure depending on the situation. 2. Be on time for all classes and staff meetings. 3. Orientate your students to the pool area and pool rules. 4. Take your position seriously and have a positive attitude. 5. Learn all members’ names and greet them at the beginning of each class. 6. NEVER TO TURN YOUR BACK TO ON YOUR CLASS. Always have visual contact with all your students. 7. Prepare lesson plans and be organized. 8. Complete time cards on time. 9. Complete progress reports for every student. 10. You are responsible for finding your substitutes and are to notify your supervisor. 11. Give a two-week notice for requesting time off.
