Job Description Job Description Meadow Breeze Day Camp is looking to fill positions for our 8-week summer camp programs, grades Kindergarten to 11th grade. LCA is a grade 6-12 independent Christian school located in Lexington, MA. Since 1966, Meadow Breeze Day Camp at LCA has been offering an exceptional traditional day camp for kids of all ages. Meadow Breeze offers a variety of camps such as a Day Camp, Sports Camps, Launch Trips and a Leaders-In-Training program. This position is for a Rock Wall Instructor. As a Summer Camp Rock Wall Instructor, you will be responsible for providing a safe, enjoyable, and educational rock climbing experience for campers. This position requires a combination of technical expertise in rock climbing, strong communication skills, and the ability to create a positive and encouraging environment for campers of various ages and skill levels. To learn more about our specific programming, check us out at https://lca.edu/summer/. RESPONSIBILITIES Rock Climbing Instruction: Teach basic rock climbing techniques to campers. Demonstrate and ensure the proper use of climbing equipment, including harnesses, helmets, and ropes. Conduct safety briefings and enforce safety rules to ensure a secure climbing environment. Train all Counselors to belay during orientation Supervision and Support: Supervise campers during climbing sessions to ensure their safety and well-being. Be attentive to the individual needs and abilities of each camper, adapting instruction accordingly. Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of climbing equipment to ensure it is in good working condition prior to and during the duration of camp. Assist with the inspection, maintenance and certification of rockwall Report any damaged or worn-out equipment and assist in its replacement or repair. Risk Management: Stay vigilant for potential safety hazards and take immediate action to mitigate risks. Follow emergency procedures and protocols in the event of an accident or injury. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other camp staff to integrate rock climbing into the overall camp program. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions. Communication: Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members. Fun and Engagement: Plan and execute engaging and enjoyable rock climbing activities for campers. QUALIFICATIONS Prior experience in rock climbing instruction or guiding. Certification in rock climbing, such as Climbing Wall Instructor (CWI) or equivalent, or willing to get certified REQUIREMENTS Must be 18 yrs of age or older Complete a CORI background check Experience in working in a summer camp preferred; experience working with children is a must Have the appropriate certifications CPR & First Aid certification (preferred) Attend all training sessions Ability to lift 30 lbs; ability to lift and carry equipment (climbing holds, ropes, etc.) BENEFITS Team-based work environment Opportunity to be a part of changing the lives of young children daily Lunch at a reduced cost LOCATION: Main Campus - 48 Bartlett Ave Lexington, MA 02420 DATES: June 23-August 15, 2025, Mon-Fri TIME: Day camps run every week day from 8:00AM-3:30PM and AfterCamp runs every week day from 3:30PM-5:30PM PAY: Seasonal; $15-$25/hr based on experience SCHEDULE: Camp training & orientation is June 23rd-June 25th, 2025. Apart from our sports camps, camp staff are asked to work all 8 weeks of camp. There is no camp on July 4th. Camp staff need to arrive each day at 7:30AM and are expected to stay until 4:00PM.
