Summer Camp Assistant

We’re looking for energetic, positive, and responsible teens and young adults to join our Summer Community Education team! As a Summer Camp Assistant, you’ll help bring classroom enrichment and outdoor fun to life for students ages 5–12. This is a great opportunity for students, aspiring educators, or anyone who enjoys working with children and wants to gain hands-on experience in a fun, supportive setting. Your Role Will Include: Assisting teachers in summer enrichment classrooms with setting up, cleaning up, and supporting daily lessons and activities. Supervising and engaging with students during outdoor games, arts & crafts, and playground time. Leading or assisting with recreational activities at our summer playground program and local parks. Helping manage supplies, organizing project materials, and cleaning up after activities. Providing a welcoming, positive environment for students and families each day. Joining the fun on field trips to local attractions, helping supervise and engage with students. Working closely with the Community Education team to support daily programming and ensuring a safe, clean learning space. Qualifications: Age 16. A fun-loving, enthusiastic, and caring attitude. Maturity, professionalism, and strong leadership potential. Ability to think on your feet, problem-solve, and stay flexible. Responsible and reliable – show up on time and follow through. Comfortable being active with students both indoors and outdoors. Prior experience (paid or volunteer) with kids—such as babysitting, camp counseling, or VBS—is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and communicate effectively. CPR/First Aid certification is encouraged but not required. Must have reliable transportation and successful completion of background check. Salary and Benefits: $12.48 – $15.15/hour Location & Shift Times: Orono Intermediate School, 685 N. Old Crystal Bay Rd., Long Lake, MN 55356. Program Dates: June 16 – August 15, with required training the week of June 9.
