Job Description Job Description Description: EASTERSEALS IOWA IS CURRENTLY LOOKING TO EMPLOY LIFEGUARDS FOR OUR SUMMER CAMP 2025 SEASON COME JOIN US IN MAKING LASTING MEMORIES WHILE WORKING A FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE INTERESTED APPLICANTS MUST BE 16 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO APPLY. PREFERANCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO HAVE A CURRENT AMERICAN RED CROSS OR LIFEGUARD PRO CERTIFICATION OR EQUIVALENT. APPLICANTS MUST BE WILLING TO PARTICIPATE IN CPR, FIRST AID TRAININGS, AND WATERFRONT CERTIFICATION AS REQUIRED DURING AQUATICS ORIENTATION. TRAINING DATES START JUNE 2ND Schedule will be Monday through Friday. Times will be 9am-4pm. Easter Seals Values Accountabilities: Integrity: Advocate for the needs of our campers. Independence: Encourage campers to try activities and encourage their development through aquatic programs. This may include adapting activities to suit the need of the camper. Respect: Involve all campers in activities that are provided regardless of ability recognizing the value they contribute to activities. Shared Purpose: Work together as a team to meet the needs of our camper, doing so respectfully and professionally. Excellence: Provide a high quality of customer service to the parents and caregivers, campers, and team members. Principle Accountabilities: Act as lifeguard at the pool, lake and other areas as assigned. Knowledge of or access to various programming resources that could be used for any needed flexibility and/or modification of aquatic programs. Responsible for communicating any concerns to the /Director Hospitality Participate in the planning and implementation of evening programs, community swim, weekend programs, and swim lessons as requested. Work cooperatively with community members in adapting activities to meet the needs of campers. Understand and comply with all policies and procedures. Attend team meetings, provide feedback on strengths and weaknesses of planned activities, offer suggestions, and participate in general sharing. Carry out safety rules and policies with regard to aquatic activities. Keep pool area and bathrooms tidy, vacuuming pool , As requested Report all maintenance issues to Director, Hospitality and submit Maintenance request form. Ability to represent Easter Seals values of Excellence, Respect, Integrity, Independence, Customer Focus, and Shared Purpose. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalency preferred. Minimum age of 16. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard or Lifeguard Pro certification or equivalency. Waterfront certification required Current certifications in CPR and First Aid within first 90 days Desire to work with people with and without disabilities. Ability to successfully complete aquatics orientation. Ability to demonstrate pool and waterfront rescue. Ability to test and understand guidelines of pool chemicals, ensuring safe levels for swimmers. Ability to work independently. Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to an activity; to model and enforce appropriate safety and emergency procedures. Ability to assess appropriate and safe behavior and provide positive behavior support when needed. Ability to bend, stoop, twist and lift Ability to transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds
