No County Albany Street Address University at Albany (Office of Facilities Management) 1400 Washington Avenue City Albany StateNY Zip Code12203 Duties Description FIRE SAFETY: Ability to assist in the inspection and testing of fire and life safety systems and fire evacuation drills; Ability to perform semi-skilled tasks in the inspection and testing of the University's , testing of the University's Fire Hydrants, and testing the University's Eyewash, Shower and Drench Hose Stations; Ability to assist in the inspection and testing of Hydrants, Eye Wash, Emergency Shower & Drench Hoses as well as Elights and Exit Signs; ability to spend entire work shift navigating the campus, climbing ladders, working at heights up to 20 feet, and lifting / carrying up to 50 pounds; ability to navigate MS Office Suite, Apple products and apps to enter basic data into the University's fire safety resources system; ability to work alone as well as in a team environment; Must be able to properly record time using AiMand record all work using proper ITM software; Valid NYS driver's license required. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7:00am-3:30pm. RESIDENCE HALL MAINTENANCE: Ability to perform unskilled tasks to assist Maintenance Assistants in dormitory maintenance activities, lift 75 pounds, proper use of hand and power tools; ability to assist in the removal and reinstallation of cove molding, floor tile and stair treads as directed. Use of step ladders to remove light lenses and cleaning fixtures. Ability to clean tools and equipment, unloading of supplies, and cleaning the work area. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm. ROOF SHOP: Assist in performing unskilled labor tasks including carrying ladders, tools, and materials. Use hand and power tools safely. Be aware of your surroundings and create a safe working environment. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 5am-1:30pm. HVAC: Ability to lift 80 pounds, work outside, work in tight confined spaces, ability to follow all safety precautions and wear personal protective equipment; Ability to perform cleaning duties of mechanical & heating equipment as well as work and clean in machine rooms; Ability to carry, climb and work on a 8 ft step ladder; Possess an understanding of basic electrical and mechanical equipment such as heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems; Valid NYS Drivers License Required. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm. PAINT SHOP: Ability to perform unskilled tasks to assist painters in such activities as preparing and cleaning surfaces prior to painting, applying paint while learning the trade, cleaning painting tools and equipment, unloading paint supplies, and cleaning work area; Ability to work at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts; May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts to accommodate workload; Ability to enter and retrieve work orders from a computerized maintenance management system; Valid NYS Driver's License required. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 6am-2:30pm. CARPENTER SHOP: Ability to perform unskilled and physical tasks including carrying ladders and materials; working from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts; assist in removing / installing flooring, ceilings, windows, walls and doors; ability to safely multiple hand power tools. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm PLUMBING SHOP: Ability to perform unskilled labor activities to assist in repairing plumbing fixtures and appliances such as sinks, shower baths, commodes, drinking fountains, dishwashers, valves including pneumatic controls, gas and water meters, gas hot water heaters and other gas appliances, heating systems and controls, and various steam equipment used in kitchens and machine rooms, water pumps and water system equipment. Ability to assemble materials, tools and equipment that are required to complete the work according to plans. Valid NYS Drivers License Required. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm EMPIRE COMMONS: Ability to perform unskilled labor activities to assist in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry jobs. Ability to perform unskilled labor activities to assist in the repair of door locks, set up for door installations. Possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver's License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Ability to climb ladders. Ability to work in areas of heat and cold, inside and out. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm SIGN SHOP: Ability to perform unskilled labor and physical tasks including covering graffiti and hanging signs and stickers. Assist in sign making. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm POWER PLANT: Ability to lift 80 pounds, work outside, work in tight confined spaces, ability to follow all safety precautions and wear personal protective equipment; Ability to perform cleaning duties of mechanical & heating equipment as well as work and clean in machine rooms; Ability to carry, climb and work on a 8 ft step ladder; Possess an understanding of basic electrical and mechanical equipment such as heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems; Valid NYS Drivers License Required. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm Minimum Qualifications Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor, and able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. Candidates may be expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators. Valid NYS Drivers license required.
