Job Description Job Description Job Title: Shuttle Driver Job-Type: Split-Shift, Hourly, Non-Exempt, Year-Round Schedule: Monday-Friday, Split-Shift: 6:50AM-8:30AM & 1:45PM-6:45PM during the academic year and varied, but similar, work schedule during the summer months Job Summary: APEX International Education Partners is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Shuttle Driver to transport middle-school and high-school students from their dormitory in Derby, CT to and from various schools throughout Connecticut. This is a year-round position which requires a split-shift schedule during the academic year and summer months. The ideal candidate must have a valid CT driver's license, 3years driving experience, demonstrate excellent driving skills, possess a clean driving history and prioritize student safety and comfort. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate with the Transportation Dispatcher daily to confirm schedules and adjust routes as necessary. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness. Document all findings and communicate any issues promptly. Assist in waking up students and verifying their readiness for school. Maintain accurate attendance records. Operate the vehicle responsibly under varying weather and traffic conditions, ensuring the safety of student passengers. Refuel the vehicle at the end of each shift and perform final inspections. Ensure cleanliness by regularly cleaning inside of vehicles by removing trash, vacuuming, wiping down surfaces, etc. Report any maintenance needs. Immediately report vehicle maintenance issues and traffic accidents to the Transportation Dispatcher and Facilities & Maintenance Manager. Request police or ambulance service as needed. Assist injured persons from first-aid kit until these services arrive. Maintain a valid CT Driver's License and excellent driving record. Immediately report any changes in driving status or insurability to Human Resources. Uphold superior customer service, professionalism, and confidentiality while interacting with students and school staff. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge and comfort operating passenger vehicles including 4-seater SUVs, 8-seater minivans & 15-seater passenger vans. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and follow directions and instructions accurately. Familiarity with Connecticut state and local motor vehicle laws and regulations. Capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and uphold privacy requirements. Willingness to work irregular hours as dictated by school schedules, including split shifts with availability for additional hours during weekdays and weekends. Physical ability to drive for extended periods and assist with student-related tasks such as moving luggage. Commitment to attending mandatory trainings and maintaining driving certifications. Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years' experience driving or transporting students in a school van/shuttle capacity preferred. Valid CT Driver's License required. CDL B License w/ P & V endorsement and school bus driving experience a plus, but not required. Excellent (clean) driving record required. Own reliable transportation to and from work location (Derby, CT) required. Close proximity (within 15-20 minute drive) to the Derby, CT dormitory preferred. Compliance with all background checks, DCF checks, and other requirements (as needed for position). Reliable attendance, punctuality, and flexibility to accommodate changing route demands. Commitment to work during both the academic year and summers. Flexibility and availability during summer months are a must. Flexibility to work additional hours during the week and weekends as needed. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and assist with student transportation needs as necessary.
