Job Description

A capacity to learn and grow is a must. Ready for a challenge? We are looking for a Waterfront Director at a Day Camp Waterfront which looks and acts more like a Resident Camp Waterfront. An optimal candidate for this position would have resident camp waterfront administrative experience (or equivalent), YMCA/JCC Aquatics administrative experience, or high-level Camp administrative experience.

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing an instructional, age appropriate program of swim instruction boys and girls, aged from 4 to 15 (Monday to Friday). You will be responsible for supervising a team of 15-20 lifeguard/swim instructors. You will also oversee our inflatable adventure course. All our swimming is done in a lake (no pools), using a floating dock system to separate swim areas.

-Communication with camper parents is also an important part of the job.

- The upkeep and maintenance of the lakefront beach area and docks is also part of the job.

- The camp day runs from 9am to 4pm, with your regular work day being approximately 8am to 5pm but some evening and weekend preparation time will also be required to organize for each upcoming week.

- Dates of Camp are from June 24th to August 23rd (9 weeks). Staff training earlier in May and June is also required.

- Salary is based on experience and qualifications.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL:

An enthusiastic, motivated individual.
The knowledge and ability to explain and demonstrate swimming fundamentals and techniques through drills and games.
The ability to communicate, with patience and clarity, with children and co-workers.
Previous experience of managing adults.
Current lifeguard certification.
Current W.S.I. certification.
Experience of working with children.
Experience of teaching swimming.

Preferred:

Experience of working on open water (lake or similar).
Camp experience (Overnight or Day Camp).
