LIFEGUARD - PART-TIME 7:30AM-12:00PM SUNDAYS Position SummaryThe PurposeFULL Living Lifeguard is responsible for all aspects of the pool area. Job Specific DutiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Supervises swimming activities and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followedSuggests and participates in pool programs to enhance the Resident experiencePerforms all opening and closing procedures for the pool; tests chemicals and records equipment inventories as requiredActively monitors Residents and guests, including small children in the pool as well as on the deckAdministers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessaryMay participate in Resident programs as assigned by Fitness ManagerContacts and works with other departments as neededEnsures Resident care needs are met by providing effective communication to the teamCompletes written or electronic documentation in a timely mannerContacts the Fitness Manager with any concernsMaintains professional competence to ensure high quality programmingParticipates in the orientation of new Team Members and new Residents to the pool areaAssists in compiling usage data of Residents and Team MembersEnsures that the pool area is clean, safe, neat, organized, and invitingOperates the pool vacuum when neededMoves the lane lines per Resident request; as well as to prepare for water classesAssists Residents with pool equipmentOperates the safety lift as neededProvides caring, thoughtful and engaging service at all timesMeets department uniform, appearance and grooming requirementsComplies with all OSHA safety regulations, local applicable laws regarding health, safety or environmentSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNone Required Skills and AbilitiesAbility to maintain confidentiality and strong customer support skillsComplies with protection of health information (HIPAA) safeguardsAbility to work independently with limited supervisionMust possess the ability to deal tactfully with Team Members, Residents, family members, visitors, and the general publicWork professionally with people from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgroundsWhen working in Resident areas, must be able to communicate effectively in EnglishAttends and participates in in-service educational classes, Healthcare Academy and staff meetings as directed Education and ExperienceShallow Water Lifeguard CertificationsMaintains First Aid, CPR and other needed certifications and trainings2 years' experience in senior living or hospitality setting preferred Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workdayWhile performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear.
