Job Description Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Aquatic Coordinator Job Code: 310601 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Classification: C Reports to: Aquatic Director MISSION: To put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. POSITION SUMMARY: The Aquatics Coordinator’s primary role is to assist the Aquatics Director in various daily tasks, including supervising the pool area and acting as a scheduled lifeguard and/or swim instructor. They are also expected to present themselves in an exemplary manner while maintaining an upbeat, optimistic, and passionate attitude about the YMCA during their shifts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists with all monthly in-service trainings Assists in the inputting of group and private swim lessons Acts as a first responder and assists in completing incident reports in the absence of the Aquatics Director that may occur when lifeguard staff needs assistance Carries out all expectations, policies, and procedures throughout shift that others can model Ensures programs and services meet community needs that include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Assists in recruiting and hiring diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions. Onboards and develops them for success. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibilities. Assists in managing programs, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program. Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to model the core values; Caring, Respect, Responsibility, and Honesty Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to be professional, alert, courteous, and diplomatic. Proficiency with Windows based computers. Current Lifeguard Instructor, Lifeguard, AED/CPR, First Aid, Swim Lesson Instructor certifications required within 30 days of hire date or position acceptance. Must display a strong commitment to excellence by being highly visible and engaged with staff, program participants and members. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM–7:30 PM and Saturdays, 8:30 AM–1:30 PM
