Job Description

Overview The Pool Mechanic ensures proper function and performs maintenance on, repair of, or replacement of all major and minor systems associated with operation of pools, splash pads and pool features; and the facilities housing them within parameter of certification and training. The major objective of this position is to keep pools and splash pad in an operational condition, avoiding closures due to unsafe or unsanitary conditions, or faulty equipment or systems. Responsibilities • Checks chemical levels at pools, fills and make adjustments to automatic or manual chemical feeding systems, services filtration systems, monitors and adjusts flow rates and picks up and drops off facility supplies. • Ensures the pool and splash pad plumbing system is in good working order and works to fix what can be done in house. • Responsible for the preventative maintenance of all splash pads. • Responsible for facility walk throughs to ensure pool deck, bath houses, restrooms, and offices are in clean and safe working conditions. • Communicate with program manager on status of current repairs or projects. • Recommends options for system repairs or upgrades, reports potential problems or equipment that might need replacement for planning purposes. • Assists pool staff in proper operation of equipment and troubleshooting of facility issues. • Makes minor purchases that assist with keeping up with the day-to day operation of the aquatic facilities. • Works on site with outside pool/splash pad repair service technicians to ensure that major repairs and overhauls are being done properly. • Works with service techs on schedule of work, services provided, products required, and other facility related issues. • Drains pools for major service or repainting, places orders for equipment and pool chemicals and coordinates with vendors and representatives on scheduled services and repairs. • Assist facility managers with training lifeguard staff on how to check chemical levels, diagnose minor problems and standard sanitation issues at facilities, and how to operate pool vacuums. • Attend annually to ensure that the most up to date maintenance practice is being utilized at the facilities. • Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required Position Type and Typical Hours of Work • Non-Exempt - Full-Time • Rotating Monday - Sunday, 5 days a week, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm. Positions and schedules are dependent on vacancies and department needs. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a requirement, including requirement to work every weekend and every holiday during summer. • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services. Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma / GED • Two (2) years of experience Preferred Qualifications • Experience in pool chemistry, pool maintenance, and pumps Licenses and Certifications Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Required Six (6) Month of Hire • Certified Pool and Spa Certification Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below: • Criminal Background Check: Yes • Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes • Drug Screening: Yes • Physical Exam: Yes Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications.
