Job Description

Position OverviewFull Time Position, schedule varies. Position will provide support to the Kansas Women’s Leadership Institute (KWLI) via research and administrative support duties, and participant mentoring. Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed [maximum appointment and hours worked levels](https://policy.ku.edu/human-resources/student-employee-eligibility-aca). However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or non-exempt/hourly). Job DescriptionDuring the summer program, will serve as a mentor to KWLI participants, academic tutor, and accompany them to social and educational activities. Responsibilities include: * accompany participants in program vehicle to transport to off-campus events, errand running, and other transportation needs (45%) * provide off-hours teambuilding activities in the residence halls; attend staff meetings and provide administrative support to program (50%) * other duties as assigned (5%). Required Qualifications * During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments). * Must be a KU Sophomore level or above. * Familiarity with the University of Kansas, its policies and procedures. * A valid driver’s license. (if this is added on the REQ, this must be confirmed at the interview stage) * Must have evening and weekend availability. * Must be available to live in KWLI provided program dormitory housing as assigned. * Desire to be proactive and committed to contributing to and being part of a positive work environment. * Ability to lift 35 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. * Experience with and willingness to work with student populations. Preferred Qualifications * Prior experience with the Kansas Women’s Leadership Institute program, or similar populations. * Prior experience with leadership studies and/or leadership development. * Prior experience with study abroad, either as a participant or sponsor. * Experience with spreadsheets, video production, and/or graphic design.
