Job Description Job Description The Greater Glenville YMCA in Glenville, NY is seeking dynamic individuals to fill the roles of Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor. These two (2) aquatic positions support the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening our community. The Lifeguard role maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. The Swim Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. CURRENT PART TIME VACANCIES Aquatics Coordinator : Full Time, 35 hours/ week. Varied shifts Swim Instructors: Weekdays - 4:00pm - 7:00pm, Saturdays - 8:00am - 12:00pm Lifeguards: Weekdays - Opening and mornings, Weekends - Afternoons, Fridays - All hours MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL AQUATIC POSITIONS AGE RESTRICTION: Minimum age of 16 years old. NYS Working Papers required for applicants under 18 yrs old. TESTING: Be able to pass a CDYMCA swim test, administered by the Aquatics Director or designated individual. CERTIFICATIONS: Valid CPR, AED, and First Aid SKILLS: Excellent organizational, communication and problem solving skills. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community SWIM INSTRUCTOR - $15.90 PER HOUR - DELIVERS SWIM LESSONS REQUIRED DOCUMENT(S): NYS Working Papers (Under 18 yrs old), and aquatic certifications Basic knowledge of computers. LIFEGUARD - $15.90 PER HOUR - MONITORS POOL, DECK, AND SURROUNDING AREAS. REQUIRED DOCUMENT(S): NYS Working Papers (Under 18 yrs old), and aquatic certifications Required Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, Lifeguard and emergency oxygen administration Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness AQUATICS COORDINATOR - $21.28 PER HOUR - MAINTAINS RELIABLE & ORGANIZED RECORDS FOR POOL USAGE, ASSISTS SUPERVISOR & SCHEDULING OF ASSIGNED STAFF MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR AQUATICS COORDINATOR AGE RESTRICTION: Minimum age of 18 years old. TESTING: Be able to pass a CDYMCA swim test, administered by the Aquatics Director or designated individual. CERTIFICATIONS: Valid CPR, AED, and First Aid EDUCATION: High School Diploma/GED required. Some College preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years of experience as a swim instructor and lifeguard. Minimum one year of experience in a supervisory role. CERTIFICATIONS: Valid CPR, AED, and First Aid SKILLS: Maintains reliable and organized records for daily pool usage, daily chemical reading logs and ensures meeting of all other DOH requirements. Assists in the supervision and scheduling of assigned staff. Provides direct delivery of programs, as needed. Provides orientation and training to newly hired staff. Provides program assistance to all members, and staff, including assistance with staff trainings. Assists the Aquatics Director with planning, development, implementation and assessment of any and all aquatics programs. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. Maintains cleanliness of the facility as a member of Clean Team.
