About the Opportunity: Chelsea Piers has developed a learn-to-swim curriculum with classes and private lessons for kids from 6 months to 9 years old that currently serves 1,800 kids per trimester in our Brooklyn and Stamford locations. We are excited to bring this offering to our flagship location in Chelsea in a warm-water learn-to-swim pool scheduled to open in summer 2026. We are seeking a Director to implement and manage our learn-to-swim program in Chelsea and oversee all operations of the pool. As the Director, you will be expected to manage the following: Pre-opening: Shadow the swim programs in FHBK and CPCT, mastering the swim school philosophy, curriculum, and schedule. Adapt FHBK SOPs and document for all programs at Chelsea including, but not limited, to: youth classes, private lessons, parties, school groups, camp open swim periods, and family open swim sessions, including safety training and procedures for all programs. Provide suggestions on how programs should be adapted for the market and the specific pool location. Provide feedback on marketing, communications, and pre-sales plans using your knowledge of the learn-to-swim market. Provide feedback on the layout of the pool, locker rooms, and aquatics staff offices. Work with People Operations and CP pool operators to create streamlined hiring processes including pipelines, candidate review, interviewing, and onboarding; hire, train, and schedule initial coaches, lifeguards, Operations Manager, and Hospitality staff. Post-opening: Manage all aspects of the swim school and pool. Implement swim school curriculum for SSNY; manage and maintain all aquatics programs. Lead management of all safety situations, ensuring adherence to proper protocols and promoting a safety-first culture. On call for emergencies. Ensure that lifeguards are properly trained, staffed, and managed. Oversee all staff including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, evaluating, and terminations. Manage class attendance numbers and assign appropriate coaches to classes. Manage parent interactions and ensure excellent facility-wide customer service. Oversee the distribution of report cards / badges and class recommendations. Manage budget of revenues and expenses. Create and manage all Aquatics schedules. Coordinate with Summer Camp Director to plan open swim sessions and elective swim programming for campers. About You: You are a diligent problem solver, comfortable taking charge and managing safety situations. You are adept at managing diverse teams, navigating customer service challenges, and interacting with children. You possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating high-quality, positive experiences for customers and staff. You have excellent communication skills, both written and in-person. Bachelor's degree required Minimum of 5 years of sports venue operational experience at a managerial level 3-5 years of experience in the aquatics field ARC LG, Water Safety Instructor & CPO Certifications (CPO certification can be completed post-hire) Strong leadership and interpersonal skills A gift for paying attention to the smallest details Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Experience with budget management and sales forecasting Experience with facility and program management software a plus Ability to work one weekend day
