Job Description

Position OverviewThese positions will support the LEAPES and AATEE summer camps at KU for rising high school juniors and seniors. These camps are designed to provide hand on experiences in Math, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering and Robotics. Camp Sessions are June 22-27 and July 13-25. Resident assistants must be available for the duration of a camp sessions and the position requires overnights in the dorms during the camp sessions. Sunday evening to Friday morning. Lodging and full meal plan is included. Students are not required to be present at the dorms during the day - 7:30 to 5 pm.Job DescriptionResident Assistants will be the onsite contact for the students in the dorm to ensure the safety and well-being of the campers. Responsibilities include: * 100% - Serve as a mentor for the campers and conduct bed checks, be on call overnight to respond to any complaints, reports, requests, and emergencies. Required Qualifications * Resident assistants must be available for the duration of all camp sessions and require overnights in the dorms during the camp sessions. Preferred Qualifications * Student enrolled in STEM or education * Experience in supervising teens Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are *not* eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR. (2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.Additional Candidate InstructionsTo ensure consideration apply *before* the application review date 07/11/2025.
