Job Description Job Description Description: Job Description Swim Academy Swim Instructors play a crucial role in teaching the Jill & Lee Weiss Swim Academy curriculum. Swim instructors work directly under the Aquatics Director and Assistant Aquatics Director to promote water safety and swim skills in a fun and educational atmosphere. Key Responsibilities · Instruct swim lessons in accordance with Jill & Lee Weiss Swim Academy curriculum · Instruct and teach with consistency, encouragement and positive reinforcement · Build effective relationships with students and caregivers · Make recommendations when a child is eligible to move up · Introduce children to the J Swim Club for a team opportunity after completing all swim academy levels · Assist in maintaining attendance and progress reports · Organize and put away all class equipment; report damaged equipment · Attend all in-service and staff meetings · Dress appropriately for all classes in the provided uniform · Arrive on time to prepare for lessons Requirements: Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required · Must be self- motivated with interpersonal communication and organization skills. · Knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes is highly recommended · Minimum age of 16 · Background check for employees over 18 shall be subject to pre-employment Educational Requirements · Valid American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid is required; infant, child and adult · Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification; CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid is preferred but not required Physical Requirements · Ability to work in an outdoor pool facility in summer and winter conditions · Ability to instruct swimmers to proper stroke technique in and out of the water · Ability to lift and move swim school equipment and teaching tools · Ability to lift small to average size child · Variable working hours include Monday-Thursday 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-7:00; Saturday-Sunday 8:45-1:15
