Job Description Job Description Job Function: Maintain water quality and cleanliness and good judgment to insure maximum water safety at the City Pool. Career Path: Essential Duties: Cleans pool and pool grounds as required. Regulates water activities. Performs rescues of bathers in trouble and supply C.P.R. and emergency first aid if required until assistance arrives. Collects and records pool admissions. Work requires water chemistry knowledge and swimming proficiency. Assist Recreation Department with other duties as necessary. Give directions and assistance to City residents and other pool facility users as necessary. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability o speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Giving of assignments and/or directions to subordinates and receiving instruction and/or direction from supervisor. Ability to deal tactfully with the public. Ability to write various reports, schedules, correspondence etc., with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar. Ability to speak with the general public with poise, voice control and confidence. Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to make independent judgments in absence of supervisor. Must have the ability to comprehend and interpret received information. Ability to give verbal and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with spoken words. Ability to deal with people beyond give and receiving instructions. Able to perform under stress with confronted with emergency situations. The worker may be subject to tension as a regular, consistent part of the job. Required Qualifications: Lifeguard Training Course. C.P.R./ AED and First Aid Certification required. Water Safety Instructor’s Certificate desirable. High school graduate, GED or enrollment in high school (age 16 or older) or college. Knowledge of water chemistry and pool maintenance. Valid Florida Driver’s License desired. Must complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary period. A valid Florida Driver's License is required. Essential Physical Skills: Ability to talk by means of spoken words. Acceptable eyesight (with or without corrections). Acceptable hearing (with or with hearing aid). Able to lift and /and or carry weights of 40 lbs. Sitting most of the time. Walking or standing for periods of time. Pushing, pulling and reaching overhead. Must be able to operate basic pool maintenance equipment, lane lines, pool covers, and pool cover reels. Environmental Conditions: Works at the City Pool.
