Job Description Job Description Position Title: Swim Instructor Program: PARA Swim Academy Seasons: Fall (September–November) and Spring (February–April) Locations & Schedules: Bobby Miller Activity Center – Hillcrest/Tuscaloosa Tuesdays & Thursdays | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Therapy Pool Jerry Tingle Activity Center – McCalla Mondays & Wednesdays | 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM Therapy Pool Section Position Summary: PARA Swim Academy is hiring Swim Instructors to lead group swim lessons for children of various ages and skill levels. Instructors will use PARA's curriculum to provide safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate instruction in a welcoming, family-oriented environment. This role requires a passion for working with children, strong communication skills, and the ability to follow safety protocols consistently. Key Responsibilities: Teach group lessons using PARA Swim Academy methods. Encourage a fun, supportive, and safe learning atmosphere. Track student progress and communicate with parents/guardians. Enforce all pool safety and emergency procedures. Set up and clean up teaching areas before and after lessons. Attend staff trainings and maintain accurate records. Requirements: Must be at least 15 years old or older. Experience in swim instruction or competitive swimming is preferred. Effective communicator with children and families. Must handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently. Must commit to the full season schedule. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (can be obtained before start). Lifeguard certification is a plus but not mandatory. Schedule & Expectations: Instructors must be consistently available during assigned shifts at either Bobby Miller or Jerry Tingle. Attendance and punctuality are essential throughout the season.
