Your Role as an Afterschool Teacher As an Afterschool Teacher , youll help lead a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for school-age children during out-of-school hours. Youll support the planning and facilitation of hands-on activities , games , and group projects that promote creativity, teamwork, and social development. Youll also help manage daily routines, build positive relationships , and ensure every child feels welcomed and supported. Key Responsibilities Support daily program routines including creative activities, snack, and outdoor play Supervise and actively participate with children during activities, games, and free play Maintain a safe, clean, and organized program environment aligned with state licensing regulations Foster independence, teamwork, and positive peer interactions using positive guidance strategies Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a welcoming, enriching afterschool environment Qualifications Previous experience working with children in afterschool programs, summer camps, child care, recreation, or youth development Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset Ability to multitask, follow program structure, and adapt to childrens needs High school diploma or GED required Make a Difference Every Day If youre ready to begin or grow your career in early childhood education and want to be part of a supportive school community that values your contributions, apply today to become an Afterschool Teacher at LeafSpring Schools !
