Job Description Job Description Salary: $18-$24/hour POSITION SUMMARY The Mentor is responsible for implementing therapeutic interventions, modeling appropriate social behaviors, and counseling support to children enrolled in our program. Participates in the planning and implementation of program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides a minimum of two therapeutic interventions per day to include daily evaluation of needs, medication education and management, opportunities to learn and use daily living skills and to enhance social and interpersonal skills (e.g., problem-solving, anger management, community responsibility, increased impulse control, appropriate peer relations, etc.), and individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, case coordination, recreation and family support. Provides concurrent mental health treatment to include behavior management services and supports/interventions that are congruent to the goals and objectives listed in the service plan for that client. Models appropriate behaviors and strategies for the client throughout the day. Provides counseling and support to children and their families as appropriate and within professional training and competence. Participates in the planning, implementation and administration of the summer program under the guidance of the Program Director and Program Manager. Performs all tasks in accordance with agency policies and procedures, and licensing/funding agency standards and requirements. Develops a therapeutic, supportive relationship with the client and the clients family. Completes and documents family contacts, as required. Manages all assigned cases and maintains face-to-face contact as defined by the specific case needs. Maintains accurate, complete, and up-to-date files on all youth and parents assigned. Participates weekly operational supervision with Program Director and provides input on ability to meet job requirements and expectations. Provides all required documentation needed to maintain eligibility for employment, including but not limited to continuing education, TB test results, fingerprints, drivers license information, etc. Participates in classroom meetings, staff meetings, day treatment meetings, meetings for the development of behavior intervention plans, FAPT meetings, OT evaluations, IEP meetings, and in-service training sessions, as scheduled or required. Keeps supervisor informed of significant changes in status for assigned cases and provides documentation and information needed to complete service extension requests. Maintains client information and records confidentiality in adherence with applicable HIPAA laws and regulations. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Provide transportation for clients using company vehicles, as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related behavioral science field and five (3) years of group home, public contact or human services work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, three (2) years of related experience, including three (2) years in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Valid State of Virginia driver's license; fingerprint and criminal records check; must earn and maintain certification in CPR/AED and first aid; must earn certification for medication administration and Therapeutic Options-VA; person-centered training, Human Rights on an annual basis; may require a pre-employment and/or annual physical examination; and required to carry a cell phone.
