The Department of Physiology consists of full-time, 12-month state-funded faculty, research technicians, postdoctoral fellows, administrative staff, and students. The department delivers foundational instruction in integrative physiology to a wide range of learners, including medical, dental, nursing, and graduate students, and maintains a strong educational mission focused on preparing healthcare professionals and researchers with a comprehensive understanding of physiological systems. This foundation supports specialized clinical and research careers aimed at addressing functional aspects of human physiology and disease. The department’s Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences provides rigorous, interdisciplinary training that prepares graduates for a variety of leadership roles in academia, research, government, industry, and medicine. *Job Duties:* The Department of Physiology at the Brody School of Medicine (BSOM), East Carolina University (ECU), invites applications for a full-time, 12-month fixed-term faculty position at the rank of *Teaching Assistant Professor *or* Teaching Associate Professor*. The position consists of the following: *Job Duties* * Deliver live and recorded lectures supporting teaching in the M.D., D.M.D., M.S., and/or Ph.D. programs. * Assist in administering flipped classrooms and review sessions in the M.D. and/or Ph.D. programs. * Provide individualized academic support to students during established office hours. * Develop and maintain clinical vignette-style problems to support practice and assessment question banks in the M.D. program. * Provide tutoring and study process guidance to students. * Support administration and secure review of assessments in the M.D. program. * Contribute to teaching and administrative duties in pathway programs such as the *Summer Program for Future Doctors (SPFD)*, which previews the M.D. curriculum to help prepare future medical students. * Support foundational science teaching in the D.M.D. program (School of Dental Medicine) and in health professional programs across the College of Allied Health and School of Nursing. * Participate in ongoing curriculum development across professional degree programs. * Develop and contribute to scholarship in medical and science education. * Contribute to teaching in the Physiology Ph.D. program and participate in student advisory committees. *Contingent upon the availability of funds* *Minimum Education/Experience:* Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (*Ph.D., M.D., or D.V.M.*) or completed foreign medical education accepted in a relevant foundational science field from an accredited institution. * The successful candidate should demonstrate broad content expertise in one or more physiological systems. * The level of appointment will be determined based on the candidate’s experience.
