Berkshires - Torrington, CT, United States
A camp nurse supervises and maintains health standards. Manage and dispense medications. Patient, caring and warm. Fun person.
Our medical team is comprised of a medical doctor on camp grounds, 5 full time nurses, and an EMT or nurse assistant; administrator to oversee the health center.
All staff reside at camp for the season. You will have a private room, bathroom and air conditioning. Although professional, we are informal. We work in shorts and t-shirts in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
Work days vary significantly. There may be days when the caseload is light and you are able to spend hours relaxing. There may be others when the caseload is heavy and you are very busy on your shift. Our population is basically healthy children. They will, however, not feel well on occasion. Colds, coughs, allergies, sore throats, sprains, strains, cuts and fractures do occur. Patients with serious ailments/injuries are transported to the local hospital by our camp drivers. Meds are distributed each day to campers who require them. It is the little things that keep our medical staff busy.......but that is the way camp is!!!
Our camp season runs from June 27 to Aug. 15. Staff orientation for nurses begin June 20th.
Salary range: Competitive.
